On Saturday July 3rd Ausmusic opens its doors to the world and puts a spotlight on starting a career in the music industry.

If your ambition is to work in one of the many and varied parts of the Australian music industry then a visit to Ausmusic on Open Day is a must do event.

Prospective students and their guests can take a look around and talk to our staff, each of them an experienced industry professional. You can learn about which of our in music performance, audio production or music business courses might be best for you. To show you just a little more of what goes on at Ausmusic we are also running performance and audio production workshops throughout the day.

With courses ranging from Certificate level to Degree there is an Ausmusic course for you commencing from either Semester 2, 2010 or from the beginning of 2011

Ausmusic Launch MiX program

From the beginning of May Ausmusic will turn its facilities over to visiting schools each Wednesday as part of its MiX program. MiX stands for Music Industry eXperience Day.

A MiX day at Ausmusic brings VET or VCE music students and teachers together with Ausmusic's experienced music industry professionals.

Ausmusic Education Manager Monique Boggia says that "MiX gives students a taste of what life in the music industry is like. MiX is designed to support, enrich and extend the music programs and learning opportunities offered by schools to students, while for teachers, it provides activities that consolidate the students learning through its practical and hands-on approach".

MiX focuses on activities such as music performance, live sound and Pro Tools workshops but adds important creativity elements, such as, song writing and music marketing and promotion.

MiX can be customised to suit individual needs and is free to all schools.

Lisa Szatsznajder

Ausmusic’s own sporting legend at the age of 21 is Lisa Szatsznajder. This year Lisa was unfortunate in narrowly missing selection for the Beijing Olympics. But in the sport of Rowing age is no limit, and for Lisa there is plenty more opportunities for selection.

But the determination in Lisa has not floundered. She won a Bronze medal at the recent 23 World Championships in Brandenburg, Germany. Lisa was rowing in the women's quad scull, the same event Lisa won a silver medal for at last years World Championship, coming second to the American team by only .79 seconds. This year the team includes Emma McCarthy who was also in the team last year, plus new additions Laura Osti and Kim Brown.

Andy Hagerman (Digidesign Training Manager Asia)

ProTools Training @ Ausmusic HQ

Ausmusic was lucky enough to host Andy Hagerman, Digidesign Training Manager Asia for a week of intensive training with our staff. Andy began his musical life at the early age of eight as an aspiring tubist. Excelling at his craft, he studied at the prestigious Northwestern University in Chicago. During his time there, he also discovered a passion for position and arranging, creating works for orchestra, chamber ensemble and even jazz and rock bands.

Andy has performed in numerous ensembles of all types, and even enjoyed many years of playing at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and Tokyo Disneyland. As a composer, he has been very active in the creation of planetarium and science centre soundtracks, and his work can be heard worldwide, including at the renowned American Museum of Natural History in New York City.

Andy was the Associate Course Director of Advanced Audio Workstations at Full Sail Real World Education in Winter Park, Florida, coordinating and guiding the curriculum of one of the largest digital audio workstation lab environments in the world. Andy remains active in composition and production with Singularity Arts, which serves the worldwide planetarium community. He is a Certified Pro Tools Operator for both Music and Post Production, a Certified ICON Expert and Certified Pro Tools Instructor.

During his week Andy delivered training to allow Ausmusic to offer the Official Pro Tools courses at our Facility. Our staff members, Mark Pullin and Rohan King are both now Certified Pro Tools Operators and are looking forward to delivering the Pro Tools courses.

Ausmusic Limited is for the second time very proud to sponsor young rower, Lisa Szatsznajder who will try to get a place in the Summer Olympic Games to be held in Beijing this year. Last year Lisa and her Women's Under 23 quad won the Sliver Medal in the World Under 23 Rowing Championships in Strathclyde, Scotland.
