Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production)

Purpose
To provide students with a wide range of knowledge and skills in sound recording and reinforcement, along with sound design and management skills applicable to a range of careers in the music and building industries.
Outcome
At the completion of the Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production), students will be able to:
- Work safely & effectively, in the technical sector of the Music Industry.
Depending on electives selected:
- Work as an engineer in, and manage, a professional recording studio producing International quality recordings
- Work as a live technician, in large concert halls
- Design acoustically appropriate recording facilities
- Produce sound tracks for film
- Design and manage sound recording and reinforcement in television, film, and theatre.
- Provide sound production for soundtrack
Structure
To attain the Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production) achieve 15 units; all of the units in Group A, at least seven units in Group B and six others. No more than three of the units selected from Group B should have counted previously towards the Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production). Three of the other units should be drawn from Group B or the unit bank for Advanced Diploma. The remaining three units may be taken from the unit bank for Advanced Diploma or another endorsed industry training package at Advanced Diploma level.
Hours
The Advanced Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production) consists of a total of 60 hours for Group A and 210-457 hours of elective study units, plus eight others. If students have completed the Diploma of Music Industry (Technical Production) the total hours required will be less.
