Diploma of Music

Purpose
The Diploma of Music aims to provide students with a wide range of knowledge and skills to be able to maximize their income, as a performer and/or composer at a -professional level up to the national market level, with support skills in the technology and business sectors.
Outcome
At the completion of the Diploma of Music, students will be able to:
- Apply copyright knowledge and OHS in their professional life
Depending on elective units taken:
- Build technical and performance skills for gigs to a national standard
- Perform using improvisation
- Perform as a soloist and/or accompanist
- Conduct a performance
- Compose, read and analyse music.
Structure
To attain the Diploma of Music achieve 16 units; all units in Group A, seven units in Group B and seven others. Four of the other units should be drawn from Group B or the unit bank for Diploma. The remaining three units may be drawn from the unit bank for Diploma or from another endorsed industry training package at Diploma level.
Nominal Duration
The Diploma of Music consists of 36 hours in Group A, 192-297 hours in Group B, plus seven other units.
