Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business)
Course Code CUS40301
Purpose
To provide skills in establishing a small business and skills for working in larger corporations within the music/entertainment industry.
Outcome
Students successfully completing the Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business) will be able to:
- Negotiate and finalise contracts
- Follow OHS & Security practice
- Understand the parameters and the practices of the music business
- Work as an entrepreneur, creating business opportunities in the music and entertainment industries
- Operate their own small business
- Work at lower/middle level in a promotions, record or publishing company
Depending on which electives are taken:
- Create marketing and promotional opportunities for music product
- Identify, negotiate, finalise and manage publishing deals
- Manage a music project
- Manage their own career
Structure
To attain the Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business) achieve 14 units; all units in Group A, six units in Group B and four others.
Two of the other units should be drawn from Groups B and/or the unit bank for Certificate IV. The remaining two units may be drawn from another endorsed industry training package at Certificate IV level.
Nominal Duration
The Certificate IV in Music Industry (Business) comprises 267 hrs for Group A and 141-228 hrs for Group B. Those students who have completed the Certificate III in Music (Business) will require less hour allocation.
