NEWS & CALENDAR
August 4 Strathclyde, Scotalnd - Silver for the Quad!!

Finals day started with some blue skies, but with the familiar cross tail wind. First up was the Women's Coxless Four. In what was a great race to watch in regards to the tactics and performance of the leading three crews. It was Australia who took a very narrow lead through the third 500m. The Aussies were able to gradually work away from GBR, the other heat winners, but when the Italians made a big move through the last 500m, the race was really on for gold and silver. To the Italians' credit they won the sprint and the Aussies had to be content with second. Rowing with good length and rhythm should give these girls a springboard to future success. Well done to Quinny and the girls.

July 28 Strathclyde, Scotalnd

Th girls have qualified to the final 500m. Lisa Szatsznajder writes: " we had a tough heat, we raced Romania, Germany, New Zealand and France. We came third, but it was a photo finish for second, we came third by 0.2 seconds. VERY close race. Our semi-final, was just as close, we were losing at the start, we were 2.5 seconds behind the field, but we stuck to our plan and managed to peg back everyone, to win, by 0.39 seconds. This race was crucial, as it was only top 2 through to the A final. B final was not an option for us. we also got the fastest time in the semi - which puts us in good stead for the final".

July 22 Venice, Italy

Today is the girls last day in Venice . They will be heading for final preparations to Scotland and for the the competition. Lisa Szatsznajder wrote from Italy; "This morning we did some final race work before our departure for Scotland. We did a few 500m and 250m starts against the other crews. Our times are getting progressively faster, which is very exciting. It is a shame that we will be leaving sunny Italy for flooded Scotland. Rumour has it, that the M8 leading to Glasgow is flooded - which may prove problematic when towing the trailer! we just had lunch, and are about to leave for our final training session in Italy. After which, we will de-rig our boats and load the trailer."

July 21 Venice, Italy

The quad's days in Italy start very early, as they getready for the World Championships. Lisa Szatsznajder writes from Italy "Our days begin at 6.40am. we wake up to a buffet breakfast of croissants, rolls, cereal fruits and selection of Italian cakes. After breakfast, we travel to the lake for our morning training session. We will usually train for two hours and then have an ice bath to cool ourselves. We are usually back at the hotel by 11am, in time for a stretching session with the team physio at 11.30am. Lunch is served at midday, and consists of usually some hot meat, pasta and salad. After lunch, we have a 2 hour siesta, before our afternoon row. Our afternoon training session is also 2 hours. It gets really hot when we are out on the lake, temperatures reach 35 degrees and after two hours in the searing sun, we all feel a little run down. After our row, we will have an icebath, and then shower at the course and go straight to dinner. After dinner we have a crew meeting, and then lights out at 9pm. Iits a fairly predictable routine."
